April 29, 2016: Cal Fire to Require Burn Permits in Santa Cruz County

(08:21) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Cal Fire officials will begin requiring burn permits in Santa Cruz County this weekend. Starting Sunday, county residents will need a permit for any outdoor open burning, including agricultural and hazard reduction burns. Permits are not required for campfires or barbeque fires. All permit holders will be required to create a clearance of at least 10 feet to bare mineral soil around the fire and provide onsite control resources. Burning will be prohibited on windy days.
