April 27, 2016: Santa Cruz County Grand Jury Criticizes Soquel Union Elementary School Board for Poor Communication

(07:52) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – The Santa Cruz County Grand Jury released a report on Tuesday, criticizing the performance of the Soquel Union Elementary School Board. According to the report, the public has expressed a mistrust of the Board and District administration since 2014. The report alleges that the board has made poorly reported decisions and violated the Brown Act by failing to hold open session discussions. The board has also been criticized for their decision to add the superintendent’s expenses to his annual salary. The grand jury recommends that the board make changes to regain the public’s trust. The board has until July 25 to respond to the outlined recommendations. (S.G.)
