April 25, 2016: Land Trust of Santa Cruz County Protects Sand Parkland from Development

(07:34) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County has purchased nearly 10 acres of Sand Parkland in Scotts Valley. The parcel borders Quail Hollow County Park near Zayante Creek. Sand Parkland is a sub-habitat of the Sandhills and is unique to the county’s San Lorenzo region. The area is inhabited by a number of rare species including the Mount Hermon June Beetle, the Santa Cruz Kangaroo Rat and the Ben Lomond Spineflower. The Land Trust’s purchase will permanently protect the land from development. (S.G.)
