April 20, 2016: Salinas Man Sentenced for Charges Stemming from Halloween Crime Spree

(08:15) MONTEREY COUNTY – A Salinas man has been sentenced for murder, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a crime spree on Halloween in 2014.  21-year-old Anthony Romero fatally shot a man after robbing him and his wife at Creekside Monument Park. He then drove to Castroville, where he robbed a juvenile and attempted to rob two other men. When the men tried to run away, Romero opened fire on them, striking one of the victims. Romero later struck a man with his vehicle. He was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years to life in prison. (S.G.)
