(07:47) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Santa Cruz County ranks second in the state for number of bike injuries, according to a new report. The study, released by the California Office of Traffic Safety this week, reveals that 197 cyclists were injured and three killed in the county in 2013. According to 2015 data, half of all car vs. bike accidents are the cyclist’s fault. In an effort to improve road safety, the organization Bike Santa Cruz County is pushing to have protected bikeways installed on busy streets. The Community Traffic Safety Coalition is also regularly holding free sessions of bike traffic school. (S.G.)
