February 7, 2016: Watsonville Wetlands Day

(16:35) WATSONVILLE – Watsonville Wetlands Day was held over the weekend, and many people turned out to enjoy the event. The members of the Watsonville Wetlands Watch organization made the outdoors their classroom, teaching people about how water moves through the city and showing off the many birds migrating through the area right now (during the winter migration). Members also explained that the Watsonville Slough System is one of the largest in the central coast area. Volunteers also helped plant over 900 native plants, to help filter the rain and runoff that comes through the slough….especially during El Nino times (like this winter).
