November 20, 2015: Monthly Meeting of Road Charge Technical Advisory Committee

(08:13) LOS ANGELES – A state transportation committee will be meeting Friday to discuss the feasibility of a road charge. A road charge would have drivers pay to help maintain the roads based on the distance they travel or a period of time they use the roads, rather than the amount of gasoline they consume. Last year, Senate Bill 1077 created the California Road Charge Pilot Program and tasked the state Transportation Commission to convene a fifteen member committee. The purpose of the Road Charge Technical Advisory Committee is to study road charging methods, seek public input, and make recommendations to CalSTA regarding the design of a road charge pilot program. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the California Department of Transportation in Los Angeles. (S.G)
