October 9, 2015: Brown Signs Bill Enabling Individuals to Receive High School Diplomas

(08:05) SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation that will enable thousands of individuals to receive their high school diplomas. SB 172 allows any student who failed the California High School Exit Exam to claim their diplomas if they fulfilled all other graduation requirements. The bill also suspends the exam for three years. During that time, the state plans to update the exam to reflect current educational standards. (S.G.)
