October 5, 2015: Salinas Man Suspected of Making Mass Shooting Threat Will Not Face Charges

(07:52) SALINAS – A Salinas man suspected of making criminal threats and possessing illegal firearms will not face charges. Hartnell College student 56-year-old Cary Palmer allegedly left a threatening voicemail on a family member’s phone and mentioned committing a mass shooting on campus. Last week, deputies conducted a welfare check at Palmer’s home and recovered a number of firearms, including high powered rifles, handguns, and a shotgun. Palmer was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The Monterey County DA’s Office has since reviewed the case and has found insufficient evidence to criminally charge Palmer. (S.G.)
