September 1, 2015: Assembly Health Committee passes End of Life Option Act 10-3

(22:00) CALIFORNIA – The current End of Life Option Act has passed the Assembly Health Committee with a 10-to-3 vote. If AB-2×15 is enacted, it will provide terminally ill, mentally competent Californians with the option to request Aid-In-Dying drugs from a physician. Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman says someone who wants the medication for themselves would have to go through 4 steps.  She introduced AB-2×15 after SB-128 (co-authored by local State Senator Bill Monning) stalled in the Assembly earlier this year; and  2 Superior Court rulings stated that the court believes it is the responsibility of the Legislature, not the Courts, to change the state law.
