(17:53) LOS GATOS – A teen has admitted to starting the fire that damaged two schools in the Santa Cruz Mountains last night. The blaze started around 11 p.m. and burned the gym shared by Loma Prieta Elementary School and C.T. English Middle School in Los Gatos. A 17-year-old boy admitted to starting the fire, after he and his friends went to the school and lit a cardboard box on fire. The teen placed the smoldering ashes in a trashcan, where the fire spread to the school and caused significant damage to the gym and attached buildings, which included the Sheriff’s Summit Service Center. Damage is estimated at $1 million and the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
