(UPDATE) August 26, 2015: State Auditor to Inspect King City Police Department

(Updated at 08:53) – State officials have agreed to audit the King City Police Department. In recent years, the agency has been under scrutiny for officer corruption and allegations of evidence tampering. Local assembly member Luis Alejo recently called on the state to inspect the police department. On Tuesday, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee agreed to have an auditor review the agency’s accounts. The state auditor’s findings are expected to be released within a year. (S.G.)

(Posted August 24 at 16:37) KING CITY – A state assemblyman has requested an audit of the King City Police Department. On Monday, local assembly member Luis Alejo said that the request is in response to several unlawful acts by former officers. The Joint Legislative Audit Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow to take the request into account. If the committee deems the audit necessary, then the California State Auditor will review the department, to better understand when and how the corruption occurred. Newly appointed Police Chief Ron Fogue, promised to bring about transparency and accountability to the department, so the community’s trust can be restored. (P.S.)
