(09:02) CALIFORNIA – Scientists have discovered lice populations in the U.S. that have grown resistant to over-the-counter treatments. The ‘super lice’ has been found in 25 states, including California, according to recent findings released by the American Chemical Society. The lice have been developing mutations that make them resistant to Pyrethoids, an insecticide commonly used to treat infestations. Researchers say prescription medications are still effective. The public is also being encouraged to avoid sharing combs, hats, scarves, and jackets to prevent infestations. (S.G.)
