July 17, 2015: Seaside Police In Shootout With Off Duty Federal Cop

(17:00) SEASIDE- The Seaside police officers involved in a shoot out with an off duty federal police officer have been placed on administrative leave. Authorities say that shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, police arrived on the 1100 block Amador Avenue to reports on an intoxicated woman. The officers escorted the woman to her home on Palm Avenue where the woman’s husband 48 year old lieutenant Eric Glaser stepped out of the residence holding a gun. Witnesses said words were exchanged then 10 to 12 shots were fired. As of Friday afternoon Glaser was alive in a trauma center. It is unclear if he fired any of the of the gunshots. Glaser is a federal police officer at the military installation that houses the Naval Post Graduate School. The Monterey County DA’s office has launched an investigation into the incident.
