May 24, 2015: Nursing Homes Agree To Pay

(12:45) Watsonville – Officials with 2 nursing homes in Watsonville have agreed to pay 3.8 million dollars in settlement fees. That was in response to a Federal lawsuit that was filed against them last year. The suit alleged they provided substandard or worthless services, overly medicated some residents, and submitted false Medicare and Medicaid claims. The Nursing homes named in the suit are: Country Villa Watsonville East, which has since been renamed Watsonville Nursing Center; and Country Villa Watsonville West Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which has since been renamed Watsonville Post-Acute Center.   Authorities advise families and victims of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation in a nursing home, to contact the California Long Term Care Ombudsman at 1-800-231-4024 or www.aging.ca.gov/Programs/LTCOP.
