Greenfield Police have hired a new animal control officer. In recent years the city has had problems with strays and uncontrolled pets, typically picking more than 100 animals a month. The Department hopes the new officer coupled with stiff fines for non compliant dog owners will bring the problem under control. A free spay and neuter clinic will be available for residents near the end of the month.
