The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County approved $2.5 million in funding to help build the Coastal Rail Trail through Live Oak. The money will be used in addition to a $12 million federal grant. Nearly 2 miles of track from the San Lorenzo River to 17th Avenue will be built with the funding. If unsuccessful the funds will go to build the Rail Trail from the Yacht Harbor to 17th Avenue. If other pending grant requests are funded, around 10 miles of the 32 mile system will be funded since the agency adopted its plan.
