Salinas police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that took place over the weekend. The incident occurred Sunday night at an apartment complex on the 700 block of Elkington Avenue. Officials say the 27-year-old victim was approached by two individuals who asked him about his gang affiliation. The man denied gang involvement. The two men then shot the victim in the face and chest. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials say a silver BMW and a white Honda Civic were seen in the area after the shooting. Anyone with information is to contact Salinas police.
