Investigators have released new information on three fatal shootings that took place in South Monterey County over the weekend. Three people were killed and four injured in the shootings, two of which occurred in King City. The third took place on Friday in Greenfield. Investigators believe the violence was gang-motivated and retaliation for the death of 20-year-old Antonio Mendez. Mendez was shot at a King City trailer park in February. The shootings have prompted law enforcement agencies across Monterey County to increase patrols.
