Jurors are being chosen for a high-profile torture trial in Monterey County. Salinas women Eraca Dawn Craig and Christian Jessica Deanda could face a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison if they are convicted of neglecting, abusing, and torturing their 2 boys and 1 girl. When found in what were described as squalid conditions, the 8 year-old girl weighed 40 pounds, and the 5 and 3 year-old boys had suffered neglect. Craig and Deanda have been in Monterey County Jail since their arrest since March of last year. Only the youngest boy is one of the women’s biological child, the other 2 were in the couple’s care. All 3 children were taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
