May 1 is the last day of the backyard burn season for Santa Cruz County. The burning of residential and or dry yard trimmings will be prohibited from May 1 to November 30. The burn season restriction does not apply to agricultural burning, including prescribed burning, recreational and ceremonial fires, or use of in-home fireplaces, wood stoves, and outdoor barbeques.
