The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has established a Marijuana Compliance Team. The team was put together in response to community concerns over large scale growing operations and butane hash oil labs. The unit will work with the DA’s office, Planning Department, Environmental Health, Fish and Game, and Cal Fire to address issues ranging from unpermitted roads to explosive hash lab chemicals. There have been five hash oil lab fires in the county this year. The Marijuana Compliance Team will also oversee dispensaries, to insure medical needs are met properly.
