The California Highway Patrol is honoring 9-1-1 dispatchers for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. From now until Saturday, the agency is recognizing communications professionals who help the public and officers in the field. CHP Dispatchers answer most of California’s 9-1-1 calls, and ensure that appropriate assistance is provided. There are 25 CHP communications centers in California, which employ over 900 dispatchers. Last year, these employees handled approximately 9.3 million calls.
