Sheep Flock to Fort Ord National Monument- 4/01/15 11:00 M.K.

Beginning this week there will be over 1,300 sheep grazing at Fort Ord National Monument. The sheep will eat unwanted vegetation, to help prevent wildfires and to assist with the growth of native plants. On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management will be hosting Sheep Appreciation Day at the landmark. During the event, attendees can see sheep shearing and wool spinning. The sheep will be at the monument until the grass turns brown, which will likely be in July.
