The San Benito County Water District shut down half of its system this week due to a broken water pipeline. Officials say a well driller accidentally ruptured the line near Casa de Fruta on Monday. The impacted area includes customers on Lone Tree Road, west to Fairview Road and north to the county line. The incident cost the district $20,000 in lost water, which will be paid for by the driller responsible. Crews are currently working to repair the broken pipeline.
