A San Jose police officer was fatally shot last night. The incident occurred when police responded to a report of an armed man threatening to commit suicide. Officers arrived at an apartment complex on Senter Street shortly before 7 and were met with gunfire. Officer Michael Johnson was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. Several streets were closed off in East San Jose as police searched for the shooter. The suspected gunman, 57-year-old Scott Dunham was found dead on his balcony. Officer Johnson was a 14-year veteran of the department.
