An early Saturday morning fire may affect Monterey County Food Bank recipients. Shortly after midnight Salinas firefighters were called to the 800 block of West Market Street to battle a fire in a loading area outside of the county food bank. Crews extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes; however three refrigerator trucks and a flatbed were destroyed. An industrial refrigerator was also damaged The organization says the loss of its fleet may cause a food crisis for the less fortunate. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
