Salinas Police are investigating an attempted homicide. The incident occurred on Friday at about 10:15 p.m. near Del Monte Avenue on Elkington Street where an 18 year old male was confronted by two Latino males in black hoodies demanding information on the victim’s gang affiliation, who replied that he wasn’t a gang member. The men were unconvinced and one of them produced a handgun and fired several shots. The victim was struck once in the chin, before escaping and making it to the hospital, where he was treated and released. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Salinas police.
