Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Proposes Taking Over King City Police Department- 3/05/15 08:30 S.G.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has proposed taking over operations at the King City Police Department. The future of the city’s police force has been in question since six of its officers were arrested last year. The sheriff’s office presented the proposal Tuesday, which includes a one-year contract with the option to extend. Officials say the transition would cost the city around $3 million. The city council will discuss the proposal at a meeting next Tuesday.
