Snow Survey Results – 03/03/15 18:51 S.S.

The most recent survey of the Sierra Nevada snowpack is so far below normal for this time of year that it’s likely that California’s current drought will continue through a 4th year. There were only 6.7 inches of snow on the ground at the survey spot this time, and that could end up being the lowest on record in nearly a quarter of a century. Scientists say that unless we end up with another “Miracle March” (as we did back in 1991), the traditional rainy season will end April 1st, with very little water stored in the state’s mountain snowpack.
