Monterey County Garbage Trucks Run on Fuel Made from Trash – 02/25/15 12:45 P.S.

Over half of Waste Management trucks in Monterey County are being fueled by methane made from garbage. A bay area landfill provides the methane that is harvested through a pipeline, processed into a liquid, and then transported and compressed back into natural gas in Castroville. This substitute for fossil fuels is a more affordable way to reduce pollution, and Waste Management wants to run all of its trucks on Methane by 2016.
