A local politician has introduced legislation that would target the finances of criminal organizations. The bill, proposed by Assemblymember Luis Alejo, would allow prosecutors to freeze accounts linked to gang activity. Currently, authorities are required to give notice before freezing an organization’s assets. Those linked to cases of child pornography, kidnapping, or other violent crimes would also be subject to the law.
