The city of Monterey has been ranked among California’s best retirement communities. In a study released this week by New York-based company smartasset.com, Monterey was listed as the third best place to retire in the state. The survey collected data based on criteria including access to medical care and recreation as well as tax burden. Other retirement communities that appear on the top 10 list include Ojai, Placerville, and Rancho Mirage.
