The Federal Aviation Administration has released proposed regulations for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (also known as drones). With the commercial use of drones on the rise, the F-A-A has determined that rules need to be in place for aviation safety. Unlike an earlier proposal (that would have required a full-blown pilot’s license and medical clearance) to operate a drone; the new guidelines would require that drone operators need to obtain a license by taking a written air safety test. Along with that, drones must stay below 500 feet, weigh less than 55 pounds, and only operate during the daytime. Operators must also maintain line-of-site vision with the drone.
