UPDATE: Two Santa Cruz County Girls Injured in Shooting- 1/27/15 6:30 S.G.

Santa Cruz police have released new information on the shooting that injured two girls in the downtown area Sunday. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Pacific Avenue near Birch Lane when an altercation broke out between two groups of young men. Officials say the victims, a 17-year-old from Ben Lomond and a 16-year-old from Scotts Valley, were hit in the crossfire. The girls were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still seeking the gunman, a getaway vehicle, and its driver. The shooter has been described as a male wearing a tan or gray hoodie and a mask or bandanna covering his face.The getaway driver has been described as a Hispanic male, around 20-30 years old, wearing a black jacket, with slicked-back hair. The suspect vehicle was a Nissan Altima, either black or dark blue, with tinted windows. Anyone with information is to contact Santa Cruz police.
