Oceanic researchers now have free access to a relatively inexpensive camera. The camera was designed by engineers at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, to be effective for months at a time at a depth of up to a thousand feet. The MBARIi engineers also chose easily obtainable over the counter materials, such as a Go-Pro camera and PVC pipe for construction of the device.
