Pacific Grove to Use Drones, Falcons to Address Sea Gull Problem- 1/22/15 8:00 S.G.

Pacific Grove officials are stepping up enforcement in an effort to alleviate the downtown area’s sea gull problem. By February 20th, all business property owners must remove sea gull nests on their buildings or be subject to fines. To ensure compliance, the city plans to use drones to record footage of rooftops in search of nests. Officials also plan to release falcons, which will act as deterrents. The city is expediting the process, since sea gulls are a federally protected species. Once the birds settle into the nests and lay eggs, it is against the law to disturb them.
