King City officials are looking for residents of their city to let them know whether they want to disband the King City Police Department, and have Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies take over law enforcement in the city or rebuild the police department. To that end, they plan to hold a series of community meetings. The issue about what to do about law enforcement in the city was raised at Monday night’s City Council meeting, where a number of area residents said they wanted to see their own police department rebuilt. The King City Police Department has been receiving statewide media coverage since last February, when six current and former King City Police officers were arrested on a variety of charges.
