Santa Cruz Police are mourning the loss of an officer. Thomas Craig Young lost his battle with cancer on January 11th, 2015. Young spent nearly 20 years serving his community with the Santa Cruz Police Department, and was also an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Julie, daughter Danielle, and son Dylan of Santa Cruz. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on January 24th, at the UCSC Music Recital Hall. In honor of Young, there will be a memorial park bench and plaque installed in the City of Santa Cruz.
