Former Pacific Grove Police Commander Pleads Guilty to New Felony Charge- 12/18/14 10:30 S.G.

A former Pacific Grove police officer has pleaded guilty to a new charge of possessing stolen firearms. John Nyunt has been convicted of extortion, fraud, and making criminal threats in connection to two other cases, where he admitted to threatening his wife and gathering social security numbers. Nyunt has now confessed in federal court to stealing numerous firearms that were being disposed of following the closure of Monterey Peninsula College’s police academy. He faces a minimum of 2 years in prison.
