An appeal from a historic preservationist opposing the Seaside Company’s La Bahia project has been denied. During a short meeting in Monterey yesterday, the California Coastal Commission voted 10 to 1 against the appeal which also had the support of two former Santa Cruz mayors who feel the La Bahia project is out of sync with the city’s overall plan. However, with the statute of limitations up for an environmental impact study, the 165-room hotel project is now set to move forward.
