The name of the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Seaside Saturday, has been released. 27-year-old Nestor Cruz-Ciriaco was holding a machete in one hand, and reaching for a 3-year-old boy with his other hand during a domestic dispute when he was fatally shot by a Seaside police officer. Cruz-Ciriaco succumbed to his injuries later at a local hospital. The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated. The Seaside Police Department is working to determine whether the officer acted within the department’s policies and procedures. The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office is looking into whether the officer acted criminally.
