Expanded Earthquake Early Warning System in Development- 11/24/14 10:30 S.G.

California officials are developing an earthquake early warning system to be implemented state-wide. The plan aims to expand ground sensor coverage to widen access to schools, fire stations, and even businesses. At this time, only select government agencies and private firms receive the alerts. The system is currently expanding in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. With the help of federal funding, the new system could be implemented as early as next year.  Developers need around $16 million to complete and maintain the system.
