Santa Cruz Man Has to Pay Neighbors in Land Dispute- 11/19/14 20:30 P.S.

A civil dispute ended with a Santa Cruz man having to pay over $200,000 to his Mendocino neighbors. This ruling ends a five-year battle between Ross Matejcek of Santa Cruz, and Maria and Ernesto Salazar who own neighboring properties in Mendocino. Matejcek never surveyed his property and made little effort to find the boundary lines. As a result he built a road, trespassed and cut down 225 trees, installed culverts and stored other items on his neighbor’s property without their permission. Mendocino County Superior Court ordered Matejcek to pay $242,000 to his neighbors, and he must also remove the road, refrain from trespassing (except to do court ordered work), and is required to stay 100 yards away from the Salazar family.
