Yesterday’s rain kept first responders and law enforcement in Santa Cruz County busy. Authorities say that wet roads and excessive speed were responsible for 17 accidents by 4 p.m. on Highway 17 alone. Some of the more serious crashes were a three car pile up near Pastiempo, a two car crash at Glenwood Cutoff, and on Soquel San Jose Road a man in his twenties was taken to Valley Medical Center after going off the road and down a 300 foot embankment.
