The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District and the city of Watsonville held their first round of joint community meetings last week. The meetings are to get public input on a new or re-designed transit center for Watsonville. Some of the key issues identified are lack of adequate bicycle transport spaces on buses and safe storage racks, nighttime lighting, and a greater police presence, were also discussed. Watsonville officials are looking at the possibility of a police substation at the new transit center. The next round of meetings have yet to be announced.
