HOLLISTER MORTARS DETONATED – 09/17/14 10:47 S.S.

SEVERAL HOMES IN HOLLISTER REMAINED EVACUATED EVEN AFTER A HUNDRED POUNDS OF EXPLOSIVE AND COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS WERE TRUCKED ELSEWHERE AND DETONATED. THE MORTARS (AND OTHER COMBUSTIBLES) WERE FOUND IN THE GLENVIEW DRIVE HOME AFTER THE OWNER OF M-K BALLISTICS SYSTEMS REPORTED THAT 18 RIFLES WERE STOLEN FROM HIS HOME. MICHAEL KEITH SAID HE HAD THE MORTARS BECAUSE THEY WERE ANTIQUES. HE ALSO TOLD LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS THAT HE USED TO KEEP THE MILITARY-GRADE EQUIPMENT (THAT HE SOLD TO THE GOVERNMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES) IN 2 WAREHOUSES, BUT OVER TIME HE MOVED IT ALL INTO HIS HOLLISTER HOME. KEITH MAY FACE MULTIPLE VIOLATIONS OF POSSESSING AND STORING DANGEROUS MATERIALS. KEITH, WHO HAS BEEN CO-OPERATING WITH AUTHORITIES, HAS BEEN IN THE MILITARY COLLECTIBLES BUSINESS (BOTH BUYING AND SELLING) FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES SAYS KEITH HAS A PERMIT TO THESE TYPES OF ITEMS.
