MONTEREY COUNTY INMATES ARE SEEKING A FEDERAL INJUNCTION TO IMPROVE JAIL CONDITIONS.   THE JUDICIAL ORDER PRECEDES A PLANNED 2015 TRIAL DUE TO THE CASE’S URGENCY.    ATTORNEYS REPRESENTING THE SICK AND DISABLED INMATES SAY THEIR CLIENTS’ LIVES ARE IN DANGER.    THE PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION ASKS THE COUNTY TO ADDRESS SIX PROBLEM AREAS IN THE FACILITY INCLUDING PROVIDING ADEQUATE TREATMENT FOR DRUG AND ALCOHOL DETOXIFICATION AND FIXING CONDITIONS THAT PUT INMATES AT A HIGH RISK OF CONTRACTING TUBERCULOSIS.     NO DATE IS SCHEDULED YET FOR THE MAGISTRATE JUDGE TO CONSIDER THE ORDER.    IF THE CASE IS CERTIFIED AS A CLASS ACTION, IT WILL PROCEED TO TRIAL IN A SAN JOSE FEDERAL COURTROOM IN SEPTEMBER 2015.
