DROUGHT CAUSES RISE IN EARTH’S CRUST- 08-25-14 7:30 SG

CALIFORNIA RESEARCHERS PUBLISHED A STUDY LAST WEEK REVEALING HOW THE DROUGHT HAS AFFECTED THE LANDSCAPE IN THE WESTERN UNITED STATES.     THE ARTICLE, AUTHORED BY RESEARCHERS FROM SCRIPPS INSTITUTION OF OCEANOGRAPHY AT UCSD, REVEALS THE LARGE-SCALE LOSS OF WATER HAS CAUSED THE EARTH’S CRUST TO RISE.    THE STUDY SHOWS THE EARTH’S CRUST HAS RISEN AN AVERAGE OF 4 MILLIMETERS SINCE LAST YEAR.     RAINFALL DURING THE WINTER AND SPRING TYPICALLY WEIGHS DOWN THE EARTH’S SURFACE.    OVER 60 TRILLION GALLONS OF WATER HAVE BEEN LOST TO THE DROUGHT IN THE WESTERN UNITED STATES.
