CA CONSIDERS CONSENT STANDARD- 08-11-14 9:00 SG

CALIFORNIA LAWMAKERS ARE CONSIDERING A MEASURE REQUIRING ALL COLLEGES THAT RECEIVE PUBLIC FUNDS TO SET A STANDARD FOR SEXUAL CONSENT.    THE STANDARD WOULD BE USED IN INVESTIGATING RAPE ALLEGATIONS.    THE BILL DEFINES ‘AFFIRMATIVE CONSENT’ AS AN UNAMBIGUOUS AND CONSCIOUS DECISION BY EACH PARTY TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL ACTIVITY.    THE CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY IS EXPECTED TO VOTE ON THE MEASURE THIS MONTH.    THE LEGISLATION, IF PASSED, WOULD BE THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE U.S.
